Polyacrylic Esters Uses

Although aqueous dispersions of polyacrylic esters and copolymers with acrylic or methacrylic acid are primarily of importance as coatings, they have certain special adhesive uses: examples are the gluing of polyvinyl chloride sheet to paper, and in bonding glass mat used in making laminates; (in the later case it is not clear whether they are used as the laminating resin or as an adhesive for subsequently bonding the laminates).

Copolymers containing free carboxyl groups will form salts in alkaline media: aqueous solutions of the ammonium salts are claimed to have, after drying, special properties such as improved flexibility and water resistance.
